Meet Carley Boyette, our featured speaker this year at MOABS: The Tampa Edition!
From hurricanes and presidential visits, to celebrity interviews and feature stories, Carley has just about covered it all. While anchoring the morning and noon newscasts in Greenville, she became an award winning journalist, but it wasn’t until she moved back to the sunshine state and began hosting the Morning Blend in Fort Myers, that she found her true passion. For 6 years Carley Co-Hosted The Morning Blend, and that is why she is so excited to be on this show in the Tampa Bay area. If you are ever looking for a new restaurant to try, fun place to go or new idea to consider, Tampa Bay’s Morning Blend is the show to watch!
Apart from working her “dream job” every day, Carley’s real pride and joy can be found off-camera. She is happily married to her high school sweetheart, Brooks Boyette who also happens to be a 7th generation Floridian. They have two beautiful young children and a lovable beagle named Paisley (named after country star Brad Paisley).
While her family, faith and career are the biggest passions in her life, this self-proclaimed “foodie” can also be found enjoying the music and art’s scene around the Tampa Bay area!
We recently had the chance to sit down and and ask Carley some parenting questions. Read on to learn more!
1. Tell us how you balance work and parenting -- what is the hardest part?
It’s a day to day balancing act. Each day provides new challenges, schedules and demands. Thankfully, I have a lot of family support. Oh… and I pray a lot! My Faith keeps things in perspective on what’s really important for our family. The hardest part is not being able to be everywhere at once. You have to learn to say “no” and figure out what your families’ priorities are for the week, the year and long-term.
2. What was your favorite part about pregnancy? Most difficult part?
Well, for me… the journey to become a “mom” was not an easy one. It took a long longer than I thought it would to get pregnant. So for me, I truly appreciated the tiredness, morning sickness and extra pounds because there was a time when I thought I would never experience it. I also loved my pregnancy hair 😊
3. What do you wish someone had told you about new motherhood?
I know this was told to me… but it’s worth repeating. “This too shall pass”. The tiredness and frustrations of being a *new* parent won’t last forever. Yes, there are new challenges that come as children grow older, but new moms… take heart in your hardest nights knowing there is light at the end of the tunnel. As long as that baby is loved and you are doing the best you can… you are doing GREAT!
4. What was the best resource you had has a parent?
My sisters. Thankfully, all three of my sisters had recently had babies. I felt like I could call and ask them anything. I also loved the “Happiest Baby on the Block” Book!
5. What’s a must have product you used for your pregnancy?
Bio Oil! Skin stretching is no joke. We also downloaded an app that calculated the time in between contractions. It was awesome… no need to do math when you are starting to go into labor 😉
6. Must have baby product?
Wubba nubs and a baby swing!
7. What is one piece of advice you’d give to new parents?
Go into parenthood with an open mind! Your experience with nursing, delivery, newborn parenting and everything in between will be different than your friends and family. Sometimes I feel as women and mothers, we like to compare. Each family, child and parent is different… and that is OK!
Come meet Carley at MOABS:The Tampa Bay Edition on November 2nd at Glazer Children's Museum.
