Sensory friendly activites are always a blast and great to do for some easy indoor fun. I love doing these types of activities with my kids because they're not only having a good time but it turns into a learning opportunity. Here are two really simple St. Patrick's themed activities you can do with your kids that will entertain them and don't cost a lot of money, if any at all.
First we have a Cereal Number Puzzle Search
OK, at first glance this seems like a complete waste of food but trust me, it's actually a lot of fun, and they can eat it as they play! For this activity we used a big plastic bin, 2 boxes of Lucky Charms cereal (any rainbow color cereal will work too), and our Melissa & Doug 1-20 Number Puzzle. I dumped the numbers in the bin with the cereal, shook it a bit to move the pieces around and then boys started their search. As they found the numbers, we counted together and even had races to see who found them all the fastest. You can do this with any puzzle pieces or little trinkets you have around the house. It's so fun for the kids and it's a learning activity at the same time. Win-win!
This activity can cost you zero dollars if you already have everything on hand.
Next we have Shamrock Marble Painting
Marble Painting is a personal favorite!
All you need to make this simple craft is a bin, construction paper, marble, paint (desired color or various colors) & scissors.
Start by printing out or cut out any shamrock template on any color paper you choose. Then, place it in the bin with the marble, add a few drops of paint on different areas of the shape and move the bin around to make the marble "paint" the shamrock. That's it! You now have a beautiful masterpiece to hang anywhere in the house.
This activity will cost you zero dollars if you already have everything on hand. At most it will be around $1-$2 for dollar store paint and paper.
So there you have 2 really simple and sensory friendly activities to try out with your kids. Happy St. Patrick's Day and have fun!
